Flooring & tile
From room measurements to whole boxes and a realistic material cost.
Measure your space
Add each rectangular area separately.
Use your installer’s recommendation. Layout and cutting patterns can change the quantity needed.
Compare the materials
For flooring or tile sold by the box. Enter the box coverage, then a box price or price per unit of area. Compare alternatives for the same space.
Paint
Calculate your paintable area and compare the cans you need.
Measure your surfaces
Use room dimensions or enter an already measured paintable surface. Each entry uses the same paint, color, coverage and coat count.
Choose your coverage
Use the coverage on your paint can. Surface condition and application can affect the amount used.
Compare paint options
Compare can sizes for the same paint and color. Each option uses one can size. Plan different colors separately. Primer is not included unless you add it to the estimate.
Project estimate
Your selected materials, your time, and a total you can explain.
Selected materials
Add an option from Flooring or Paint. The estimate uses the quantity you need to buy.
Add the rest of the work
Enter your internal labor cost. Markup or margin is added afterward. If you enter an already final selling rate, use 0% to avoid adding it twice.
Markup is a percentage of cost. Margin is a percentage of the final selling price.
Other materials & work
Optional items with a quantity and internal unit cost. Avoid entering costs already included above.
Make it ready to share
Customer estimates show the scope and final price before tax. Internal budgets also show your costs and markup or margin. Notes are included in both: review them before sharing.
These details stay on this device. Browser printing uses the paper size selected in your print dialog.
From room measurements to boxes you can actually buy
This free flooring calculator adds up to 20 rectangular areas, subtracts excluded space, and applies the allowance you choose. Use it for laminate, vinyl, engineered wood flooring or tile sold in boxes with a stated area coverage. Enter the coverage on the exact package to see the number of whole boxes to buy. Compare two purchases, including accessories and delivery, then carry your selected purchase into a project estimate.
You can use feet and inches, decimal feet, or meters. Enter either a price per box or a price per square foot or square meter. The cost uses the full coverage of the boxes purchased, so it does not overlook material left over after installation.
Worked example: a room and hallway
A 16 × 12 ft room and a 10 × 4 ft hallway total 232 ft². With a 10% allowance, the target is 255.2 ft². Boxes covering 24 ft² require 11 boxes, or 264 ft² purchased. At $37 per box, plus $22 for accessories and $25 delivery, the purchase is $454. These are example inputs, not current retail prices or a recommended allowance.
Does this calculate individual tiles or a laying pattern?
No. It works with flooring and tile sold by package coverage. It does not calculate grout, individual tile counts, cuts, laying patterns, or flooring sold on rolls. Split an irregular floor into nonoverlapping rectangles, and check the package coverage and installation requirements before ordering.
Can I compare different products?
Yes, as alternatives for the same calculated area. Each option has its own coverage, price, accessories, and delivery. The calculator does not assign different flooring products to separate rooms or combine both alternatives into one order.
Is it free, and where are my measurements stored?
The calculator is free and needs no account. Project measurements and prices are processed in your browser. Saving a project is optional and stores a copy in that browser; ordinary requests to load the website still reach its hosting provider.
Read the flooring boxes and cost guide, check the calculation method, or explore all planning guides. For walls and ceilings, use the paint calculator.
Plan paint quantities, then compare what you need to purchase
This free paint calculator works from rectangular room measurements or a net paintable area you already know. Add openings and an optional ceiling in room mode, then enter your coat count, product coverage, and chosen allowance. Compare two can sizes and prices for the same paint and color, using whole cans for each purchase.
Use square feet or square meters and liters, US gallons, or imperial gallons. Selected paint costs can flow into your project estimate alongside flooring and labor. Measurements, prices, and project notes are processed locally in your browser, without an account.
Worked example: walls with two coats
A 16 × 12 ft room with 8 ft walls has 448 ft² of wall surface. Subtract 42 ft² of openings to get 406 ft². Two coats, example coverage of 400 ft² per US gallon, and 5% extra require 2.1315 US gallons. Buying one-gallon cans means three cans. At $42 each plus $12 for accessories, the purchase is $138. Use your actual product label; the example coverage is not universal.
How should I enter an open-plan or L-shaped space?
Measure its real wall surfaces and choose Known paintable area. Do not turn it into imaginary enclosed rooms: the shared edges would add walls that do not exist. Enter the net area after openings; this mode does not subtract them again or add a ceiling.
Can I include different colors, primer, or ceiling paint?
All areas in one calculation share the same paint, color, coverage, and coat count. Plan different products separately. Their costs can be added as custom items in the estimate, but that does not calculate their required quantities.
Does the calculator find the best mix of can sizes?
No. Each alternative buys one can size at a time. It rounds up independently, so you can compare the resulting purchase costs and quantities. A larger can is not automatically the cheaper purchase for your project.

A free project estimate connected to your material purchases
Bring selected flooring and paint purchases into one budget. Add labor hours and internal hourly cost, other expenses, and up to 20 custom quantity × unit-cost items. You can also create a labor-only estimate. Choose markup or margin, review the total before tax, and export a PDF or print without creating an account.
Worked example: why markup and margin differ
A $454 flooring purchase, $138 paint purchase, $280 in labor, and $50 in preparation costs total $922. A 20% markup gives $1,106.40. A 20% margin gives $1,152.50. Markup is a percentage of cost; margin is a percentage of the selling price. This is a calculation example, not a recommended rate.
What is the difference between the two PDFs?
Customer estimate shows the work scope and final price before tax without the generated internal cost or markup/margin breakdown. Internal budget includes that breakdown. Your own descriptions and notes appear as entered, so check both carefully before sharing. Business and customer details, reference, and validity date are optional.
Are these local market prices or tax calculations?
No. OKRoomTools uses the prices, hours, and costs you enter. It does not look up contractor rates, calculate tax, issue invoices, or determine whether a document meets your business requirements. Changing the currency label does not convert money.
Where is my estimate processed?
Calculations, imported project backups, and PDF generation run in your browser. Saving a copy there is optional. Exporting a document does not upload the project to OKRoomTools; loading the website and its resources still creates normal hosting requests. You control any later sharing of the exported file.
Read the project estimate and pricing guide, review the calculation method, or browse all planning guides.
How we calculate
Flooring: net floor area × (1 + allowance percentage / 100) ÷ coverage per box, rounded up to whole boxes. Box cost, accessories, and delivery make up the material total.
Paint: paintable area × coats ÷ coverage per coat × (1 + allowance percentage / 100). The can options determine how much paint you buy and what it costs.
Estimate: selected materials + labor + other costs. Markup uses cost × (1 + markup percentage / 100); margin uses cost ÷ (1 − margin percentage / 100). These are planning estimates based on your inputs.
Privacy & your saved project
Your measurements and project details are processed in your browser. They are not uploaded to a server. “Save on device” stores one project in this browser only when you choose it, replacing the previous saved project; clearing browser data can remove that copy.
Export a project file for a backup or to move it to another device. Imported files are read locally. This version has no advertising or third-party analytics. Your browser still requests the website and its assets from the hosting provider.
Country preferences are saved in this browser for new projects. Changing language temporarily stores the open project in this tab’s session storage to keep your changes. The app removes that copy when the translated calculator opens and warns you if removal fails. This temporary copy is not a saved backup.
