About OKRoomTools
Free planning tools that connect what you measure, what you buy, and the estimate you share.
Plan the purchase, then the project
OKRoomTools is an independent project for people planning smaller flooring and painting jobs. Its focus is the path from measurements to whole packages, a choice between purchases, and a project estimate. The calculators are free and do not require an account.
The flooring tool works with box coverage, the paint tool works with product coverage and whole cans, and the estimate combines selected purchases with your labor and other costs. Comparing options uses the inputs you provide; OKRoomTools does not claim that a particular product is the best or that an estimate guarantees savings.
What local project data means
Measurements, prices, optional names, notes, imported project backups, and PDF generation are processed in your browser. The tools do not upload that project data to an OKRoomTools calculation service. Saving is an explicit choice and keeps a copy in the current browser. You can download a separate backup or delete the saved browser copy.
This does not make the website invisible to its hosting provider: opening a page and fetching its resources creates ordinary network requests. A downloaded backup or PDF is a file under your control; sharing it, synchronizing your files, and using a shared device have their own privacy implications. Browser saving is not an account-based backup or a guarantee against data loss.
How the calculations are checked
The published method explains formulas, whole-package rounding, unit conversions, and the difference between markup and margin. Automated checks cover calculation boundaries, invalid inputs, conversions, purchase selection, and document output. Worked examples let you check the arithmetic without trusting an unexplained result.
Testing reduces mistakes; it does not replace a site inspection, product instructions, or a check of your measurements. The tools do not optimize cutting layouts or mixed can sizes, supply local prices, calculate tax, or assess structural or product suitability. Check the output before ordering materials or sharing an estimate.
Start with a calculator or read the practical planning guides for a complete worked example.
Language and regional preferences
The initial country suggestion comes from your browser’s language settings, not GPS or an IP geolocation service. You can change it and choose different units, currency and paper size. The country preference is kept locally in this browser; the page address identifies the chosen language. If you change language while working, the app temporarily stores a project snapshot in session storage to reopen it in the new language, then removes that snapshot when it is read and warns you if removal fails. This handoff does not send the project to a server and is not a lasting backup. If browser storage is unavailable, review the warning and download a project backup before leaving.
